Known as “the airline of Nigeria”, MedView was founded in 2007 as a charter airline operating Haji flights. Since then, the airline has expanded its reach to include destinations such as Abuja, Port Harcourt, Yola, Enugu and Maiduguri in Nigeria, as well as Accra in Ghana and London-Gatwkick Airport in the United Kingdom. It also recently announced that it would start operating flights to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia as of 31 December 2015.
Medview Airline’s history
Medview Airlines was not always a commercial domestic and regional carrier. The airline, which was founded in 2007, undertook to provide rescue operations for pilgrims stranded in Ilorin, Lagos, Sokoto, Maiduguri and Yola, as part of an operation controlled by the authorities of the National Hajj commission (NAHCON). During 2008 and 2009 the airline continued to carry out rescue Hajj operations impressing the NAHCON in the process.
It wasn’t until November 2012 that the airline began to provide domestic commercial services to the Nigerian travel market. Considered a ‘baby’ airline at the time, MedView still received considerable support within the domestic travel market, de mainly to its track record and service history.
The 2017 Fleet
As of October 2014, MedView Airline offers a fleet of 5 aircraft that includes three Boeing 737-400, one Boeing 737-500 and a Boeing 767-300ER.
On occasion, the Airlines will lease a Boeing 737 and a Boeing 767 to cater to various flights involved in Hajj operations. The airline is expecting delivery of another Boeing for domestic and regional flights before the end of 2015.
