About the airline
Fly Mid Africa (www.flymidafrica.com) is the national airline of The Gambia. The recently unveiled airline is to operate regular scheduled passenger flights to a range of regional destinations from its primary air hub in Banjul, the Gambian capital city.
Having concluded all regulatory, commercial and operational planning and setup, the airline is expected to commence flight operations along all planned routes imminently. Flying under the slogan “Leading The African Dream”, FlyMidAfrica is planning on carrying West African flyers in both the business and leisure segments.
The aviation sector in West Africa, and Nigeria in particular, has been plagued by a range of operational and financial challenges. The airline’s Managing Director was recently quoted as saying that the airline wishes to play an active part in facilitating regional integration and supporting economic growth and cross-border trade, especially between destinations such as Gambia and Sierra Leone.
Fly Mid Africa’s management team recently confirmed that the airline will be operating regular scheduled flights from Banjul to Freetown Dakar in Senegal, Lagos in Nigeria as well as Monrovia in Liberia. It is not clear whether the airline will be flying to Abuja, Port Harcourt and Yola yet, but it is expected that other domestic Nigerian startup airlines such as JetWest, Harrier Airlines or Green Africa Airways will be targeting these routes.
Fly Mid Africa is currently utilising the Boeing 737 Classic within West Africa.
